One of the headrights named in this patent is Philad. Photograph of the Hatfield Plantation (located at FM 912) in Brenham, Texas. Hampton Plantation State Historic Site is tucked away among live oaks and magnolias about an hour from downtown Charleston. Most of the plantation land is no longer in use and has reverted to natural wooded and swampy conditions. His first property was at old Point Comfort, near Mobjack Bay in Gloucester Co. VA, then Isle of Wight Co., then Eastermont River, where he built a plantation named "Hampfield" after 1651. He was a wool merchant, buying wool from other Virginians and shipping it to his brother Laurence Hampton in London, who was a merchant tailor.

His will was dated Nov. 1718 as shown in the old Hampton deed, but that record of the will has been distroyed with all the other records of this County by a fire so we have not been able to learn of the name of his second wife nor of her children, if any.

Turn right onto 727 (Spring Creek This fort would become Middle Plantation and later Williamsburg, Virginia. In 1634, a palisade was built near Middle Plantation.

He married Margaret Wade on 01 Jan 1712. According to a 1712 land record his father gave him the Hempfield land. Later he moved to Essex County, Virginia and lived there until 1736.
